Chinese New Year

To mark Chinese New Year (the year of the Rooster) the children have been looking at the culture and food of China.

They enjoyed making dragons and drums, as well as using chopsticks to pick up coloured blocks, which helps to develop their hand eye coordination and fine motor skills.

An outstanding nursery

Little Ladybirds has started the year with a bang after being rated as ‘outstanding’ by the education inspector Ofsted.

We achieved an outstanding rating of 1 in the four key areas which early years’ providers are judged on, namely effectiveness of the leadership and management; quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare; and outcomes for children.

Garden improvements

Over recent months we have been making improvements to our garden/outside play area at Little Ladybirds.

This has involved a number of things, including removing the fencing so there is now more of an open plan aspect to the garden, and adding a new music area, maths area and bug hotel.
