Safe landing

Little Ladybirds has ensured the region’s air ambulance service is in for a safe landing after raising over £1,000 for the charity.

Little Ladybirds chose the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNASS) as its charity of the year for 2018/19 and has spent the last 12 months holding a range of fundraising events.

These included Christmas, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day raffles,  a sponsored crazy hair day and guess the amount of jellybeans in a jar competition.

Electronic app

Parents of children at Little Ladybirds can now receive real-time information about their daughter or son following the launch of a new electronic app.

The secure app enables parents to view a range of information about their child whilst they are at the nursery, including activities they have undertaken, observations made as part of the learning journal staff prepare, what meals they ate and how many bottle feeds/nappy changes they had.

One of the most popular features of the app is the ‘what I did today’ function which involves staff uploading images of the children doing things in the nursery, e.g. reading a book, playing outside or learning French.

Not a dry eye in the house

There was not a dry eye in the house when pre-school children from Little Ladybirds enjoyed a magical graduation ceremony.

The 24 children donned hats and gowns for the graduation ceremony watched by their proud parents and nursery staff.

Jennifer Thompson, nursery manager, said: “The children all came onto the stage to receive their graduation scroll. The parents were so proud and I think we even made some of them cry!”
