Children at Little Ladybirds have been learning about the great outdoors at a forest school and farm.
Our pre-school children spent a day at High Bank Farm in Stapleton, near Darlington.
The farm is home to Little Ladybirds’ sister nursery, High Bank Day Nursery, where a forest school and mini-farm have been created.
The forest school provides children with hands-on learning experiences in a natural environment surrounded by trees and green space. The children do everything from building dens and shelters, through to studying insects and wildlife.
This is complemented by the farm, which enables children to get close to animals such as pigs, goats and chickens, and learn about their different habits.
Jennifer Thompson, Manager of Little Ladybirds Day Nursery, said: “This was the first time we have taken the children to High Bank and when they returned they couldn’t stop talking about their adventure and how much fun they had.
“Having a sister nursery based on a working farm is a big plus, so we will now be making this a regular event, complementing the wide range of learning-based activities we already provide at Little Ladybirds.”farm, forest school, learning, little ladybirds day nursery, pre-school
