Letting their hair down

The children enjoyed letting their hair down in November but as ever, they were learning at the same time!

That’s because they were playing in our new role play area, a hairdressing salon. The salon has a waiting area where the children can read whilst they wait for their ‘appointment’ and then when they sit down to get their ‘new’ hairstyle, there are all the hairdressing accessories you would find in a regular salon.

To mark Bonfire Night on the 5th, children in Toddlers loved mixing colours to create their own firework pictures, using cardboard tubes, paint brushes and pipettes to make their marks.

No sign of slowing down

There was no sign of slowing down at Little Ladybirds Day Nursery in October, with the children enjoying another busy month of activities.

Pre-school loved trying out a new autumn game involving rolling conkers into number tubes. This was a great exercise for developing their hand to eye coordination and counting skills as they had to add up their points after rolling the conkers.

Charity of the year

Little Ladybirds Day Nursery’s first fundraising event in aid of its new charity of the year has raised over £600.

We are supporting local children’s hospice Zoë’s Place over the next 12 months, and in September, held an autumn fayre featuring table-top stalls, face painting, tombola, cakes and refreshments.

The event was well supported by parents, families, friends and general members of the public and it resulted in £608 being raised for Zoë’s Place Middlesbrough.
